<< Back Neighborhood Public Art Project Under Way (Feb 14, 2005)

Neil Johnson has been selected by SRAC (Shreveport Regional Arts Council) to create a public art piece for five large windows to be installed permanently inside the new Hollywood/Union Branch of the Shreve Memorial Library. Portrait artist, Walter Washington, is collaborating with Johnson.

The Hollywood and Caddo Heights neighborhoods surrounding the library site have nominated 71 individuals who will be honored by becoming part of a portrait collage in the five windows. Photography sessions will begin on June 17 and be completed by the end of summer 2005. The whole project will be installed during early 2006 and the library is expected to be completed and open by mid-2006.
