The Black and White Spider Awards is an international awards competition recognizing excellence in black and white photography. This celebrated event shines a spotlight on the best professional and amateur photographers and honors the finest images with the highest achievements in black & white photography. Neil Johnson achieved nomination status for three of his images in the 2004 competition, two in the “nature” category and one in the “advertising” category. (The skull image in the "advertising" category was supposed to have gone into the "fine art" category as it was not created to advertise anything. Oh, well.)
