How do I find the perfect location for a photoshoot?
Involving clients in the location scouting process can lead to more satisfying outcomes and smoother shoots. Understand what style of photo you want to receive, whether it’s a more rustic or modern look you are aiming for. Therefore, take the time to present them with sample backdrops from various locations or show them examples from previous shoots at the same spot, if you have any. Some photographers don’t like to show their favorite locations and won’t post it, or will post fake location info on the post.
For engagement or maternity sessions, couples and families might prefer to shoot in a location that is sentimental to them. When my family relocated to Savannah, Georgia a few years ago, I had to go around my new area and scout out all-new locations. Light-colored buildings, bodies of water, or even sandy beaches can bounce light in interesting ways, potentially eliminating the need for artificial lighting equipment.
